President Day has a lengthy track record of successful and precedent setting negotiations with the Province, Industry, Neighboring Tribes and internally amongst the Tahltan people and their governments/entities.

Examples of some of these agreements include:

  • Red Chris Impact Benefit Agreement with Imperial Metals through ratification with 87% support from the Tahltan people who participated in the decision-making process (April 2015);
  • Red Chris Mine Economic and Community Development Agreement with the Province to ensure the Tahltan Nation receives a portion of the tax revenue generated on this project located in Tahltan Territory (2015);
  • Tahltan Nation Protocol Agreement which clarified jurisdiction, revenue sharing, negotiation processes and other important aspects of how the Tahltan Central Government, Tahltan Band Council and Iskut Band Council would collaborate together in their pursuit of creating prosperity and certainty for the Tahltan people (July 2015);
  • Tahltan Nation Guide Outfitter Agreement which established revenue-sharing, communication, information sharing protocols and a commitment to many other collaborative initiatives between the Tahltan Central Government and Guide Outfitters aimed at empowering both parties and suiting the best interests of the wildlife in Tahltan Territory (July 2015);
  • Red Chris Mine Management Agreement with the Province of British Columbia which resulted in precedent-setting involvement and oversight for the Tahltan Nation over the activities and permits related to operations at the Red Chris Mine (January 2017);
  • Klappan Plan with the Province of British Columbia to bring protection measures to 287,000 hectares for twenty years and decision-making certainty to how decisions will be made over 636,000 hectares of Tahltan Territory (February 2017);
  • TCG Communications & Engagement Agreement which resulted in mutual benefits for companies pursuing mineral exploration and several million dollars of growth and new initiatives over the years for the Tahltan Nation (2017 – 2024);
  • Brucejack Mine Impact Benefit Agreement with Pretivm which created a plethora of benefits and involvement for the Tahltan Nation during the life of the project (June 2018);
  • Brucejack Mine Economic and Community Development Agreement with the Province of British Columbia to ensure the Tahltan Nation receives a portion of the tax revenue generated on this project located on both Tahltan and Nisga’a territories (June 2018);
  • Tahltan Nation Logging License Agreement with the Province of British Columbia regarding forestry products and licensing covering a large portion of Tahltan Territory (2018);
  • KSM Impact Benefit Agreement with Seabridge through ratification with 78% support from the Tahltan people which created a plethora of benefits and involvement for the Tahltan Nation during the life of the future project (June 2019);
  • Historic 124.3 Million Dollar Clean Energy Investment, whereby the Tahltan Central Government utilized its AltaGas Impact Benefits Agreements as leverage to negotiate an additional 5% interest in the Northwest Hydroelectric Facilities, making it the biggest clean energy investment by a First Nation in British Columbian history (July 2019);
  • Tahltan Nation Development Corporation Protocol Agreement which clarified revenue sharing, communication, decision making processes, accountability measures and collaborative efforts between the Tahltan Nation’s corporate economic entity and the three Tahltan governments (2020);
  • Silvertip Impact Benefit Agreement with Couer which created a plethora of benefits and involvement for the Tahltan Nation during the life of the project (January 2021).
  • Ice Mountain Conservancy Agreement with the Province of British Columbia, Skeena Resources, Nature Conservancy of Canada and the BC Parks Foundation to create a new conservancy spanning 3500 hectares which is culturally sacred to the Tahltan Nation (April 2021);
  • Shared Prosperity Agreement with the Province of British Columbia, which resulted in over 20 million dollars being directed to the Tahltan Nation for land use planning and economic development purposes (June 2021);
  • Section 7 Eskay Creek Project Agreement, which marked the first ever agreement utilizing this section of the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act which acknowledged that Tahltan consent is required before the approval and construction of the project (June 2022);
  • Wildlife Accord with the Province of British Columbia to provide more capacity and funding to improve co-management and wildlife initiatives to assist wildlife in Tahltan Territory (October 2022);
  • 3Nations-BC Partnership Agreement between the Tahltan, Kaska, Tlingit Nations and the Province of British Columbia, which provided approximately 25 million in capacity funds over five years for the Tahltan, Kaska and Tlingit peoples in BC to deliver services and build capacity amongst their northern communities (September 2022);
  • Section 7 Red Chris Mine Agreement which marked the second ever agreement utilizing this section of the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act which acknowledged that Tahltan consent is required before the project undergoes major changes to become a block caving project (November 2023);

The aforementioned agreements cover only a portion of the high level agreements negotiated by President Day, and do not include many others where he acted as an advisor for other partners, Indigenous peoples and several other organizations.
